Our Officers

President

Dedra Evans, PharmD

Dr. Dedra Evans is a graduate of Morris Brown College and Mercer University’s pharmacy program. With a passion for helping others, she has dedicated her career to pharmacy, finding fulfillment in serving their community and educating others about medicines and therapies. Having previously served as the Corresponding Secretary in the past of NPHA- AGCC, Dr. Dedra Evans is now the current President of The National Pharmaceutical Association (NPHA) – Atlanta Gate City chapter, and she aims to enhance diversity and community engagement within the profession. 

Vice President

Andre Harvey, PharmD

Dr. Andre Harvey, a proud alumnus of St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Morehouse College, served as President of the NPHA Atlanta Gate City Chapter from 2022-2024. Under his leadership, the chapter embraced the JAMBO theme, focusing on Joint Professional Projects, Alliance of Pharmacy Professionals, Mentoring Future Pharmacists, Best Practices in Self Care, and Offering Healing to Communities. Dr. Harvey spearheaded initiatives to increase membership among younger pharmacists and fostered a sense of community through events like the Summer and Winter NPHA chapter Soirees. Dr. Harvey now seeks to continue his contributions as Vice President of NPhA Atlanta for the 2024-2026 term, driven by optimism and pride in chapter accomplishments.

Financial Secretary

Charles Palmer, BSPharm

Dr. Charles Palmer, a graduate of Mercer University School of Pharmacy, brings decades of experience to the pharmacy profession. With a background as a Pharmacy Manager in the retail sector and a mentor to countless pharmacy students for over 30 years, Dr. Palmer currently serves as the Pharmacy Manager at Total Pharmacy in the West End.

Dedicated to community service, Dr. Palmer tirelessly supports the homeless and guides students from high school to professional school. His pharmacy played a crucial role in providing COVID vaccines for the NPhA national convention in 2023, exemplifying his commitment to community health.

Within the NPhA, Dr. Palmer has held various roles, including serving as Financial Secretary and organizing CE dinner meetings for the chapter during the 2022-2024 administration. With his wealth of experience and dedication, Dr. Palmer continues to bring value to the organization and the profession as a whole.

Treasurer

Samuel Young, PharmD

Dr. Samuel L. Young II is a native of Savannah, GA. He attended Xavier University of Louisiana School of Pharmacy, where he graduated Cum Laude in pursuit of his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2008. From there, he went on to start a pharmacy career with Rite Aid Pharmacy. In two years, he was promoted to pharmacy manager, where he was the youngest pharmacy manager in the district. He held that position for 5 years, but he knew he wanted to do more.

In 2015, he and a partner started an independent pharmacy. After 3 wonderful years of independently working together, the company was sold. Dr. Young continued his passion for improving the health and wellness of his community, by opening his own independent pharmacy Young Life Pharmacy in 2018. Dr. Young is also adjunct faculty at Philadelphia College of Osteopathy and Medicine, where he established Young Life Pharmacy as a preceptor site for young and eager pharmacy students. It is his mission and his motivation in
life to serve the community and bring health awareness to the under-served population.

Dr. Samuel Young served as Treasurer of NPhA- AGCC from 2022-2024, working to reestablish the organization’s banking accounts and finance team, ensuring that all financial obligations were paid, working with the chapter’s financial secretary. Dr. Young also served on the chapter’s host committee for general business meetings and Master of Ceremony for chapter’s programs.

Secretary

Michele White, PharmD

With over 20 years of experience spanning community pharmacies and hospitals, Dr. White is committed to advancing pharmacy practice and enhancing patient care. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for pharmacy to her position as Secretary within the NPhA Atlanta Gates City Chapter.

As Secretary, Dr. White pledges to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, leveraging her organizational expertise to streamline operations and facilitate efficient meeting coordination. Her dedication to the profession and advocacy for its advancement make her an ideal candidate for this role.

Dr. White’s collaborative approach and commitment to teamwork ensure that she will work closely with leadership and fellow members to achieve the chapter’s shared objectives. With her enthusiasm and dedication, Dr. White looks forward to serving the pharmacy community and contributing to its growth and development.

Parliamentarian

Jessica King, PharmD

Dr. Jessica King, a licensed pharmacist in Georgia, brings over a decade of experience in retail and managed care settings. Dedicated to community service since her undergraduate years at Spelman College, Dr. King has a passion for helping others and promoting positive youth development.

Throughout her career, Dr. King has excelled as a pharmacy manager and clinical pharmacist, leveraging her expertise to provide quality care to patients. Her transition from retail to managed care reflects her commitment to exploring new opportunities to make a difference in healthcare.

As Recording Secretary for the National Pharmaceutical Association- Atlanta Gates City chapter from 2022-2024, Dr. King played a vital role in facilitating chapter activities and fostering member engagement. Now serving as Parliamentarian for the 2024-2026 season, she remains dedicated to advocating for patients in underserved communities and supporting her colleagues in NPhA.
