Melvin Blalock was a graduate of Mercer University School of Pharmacy, as well as an active member of the National Pharmaceutical Association. Blalock served as President of the Atlanta chapter, and along with his wife Melba, sponsored students annually during the National convention of NPhA. Blalock was also instrumental in establishing the Student Pharmacy associations on the campus of both Spelman College and Morehouse College. The Atlanta chapter of NPhA wishes to present The Melvin Blalock Presidential Scholarship to a deserving student enrolled at Mercer University at the national convention in 2019. Melvin Blalock was a perfect example of a servant leader. The Atlanta chapter of NPhA will continue to honor Melvin Blalock by presenting this scholarship award annually in remembrance of his generous spirit and his love of patient care and the profession of Pharmacy.
