BPS Seeks Pharmacists to Serve on Inaugural Pain Management Pharmacy Specialty CouncilThe Board of Pharmacy Specialties® (BPS) requests applications for up to 12 pharmacists to serve on the inaugural Pain Management Pharmacy Specialty Council. Pain management pharmacy, announced as a specialty in September 2023, is the newest BPS Specialty Certification Program. Applications are due Monday, April 8, 2024 by 5:00 pm EST. Prior to applying, pharmacists must review the responsibilities and required time commitment outlined in the Call for Applications Information Booklet and all applicable BPS policies (found on this webpage). The BPS Pain Management Pharmacy Specialty Council will be responsible for:
Term and Eligibility Applicants for the BPS Pain Management Pharmacy Specialty Council must be active licensed pharmacists. Past volunteer service with BPS (e.g., item-writing, participation in a job analysis panel) is preferred, but not required. The specific term for this appointment will begin June 2024 until December 2027, with the potential to continue for a duration of up to six years through December 31, 2030. Inaugural members of the pain management specialty council will establish a succession plan to stagger the transition of inaugural members with new members who hold the specialty certification in pain management pharmacy. After the first certification examination is administered, it is anticipated that at least two inaugural members will transition off the council each subsequent application cycle.

BPS Seeks Pharmacists to Serve on 14 Specialty Councils with Terms Beginning in 2025
In addition to the opportunity described above, the Board of Pharmacy Specialties® (BPS) has also issued a call for applications for pharmacists to serve on 14 BPS Specialty Councils for terms beginning in 2025. Applications are due Monday, April 8, 2024 by 5:00 pm ET. A minimum of 27 total council service positions are available, with a maximum of 48 total council positions.
