National Pharmaceutical Association- Atlanta Gates City Chapter

New laws impacting pharmacy practice are being developed daily, making it more important than ever that pharmacists stay informed of policy developments at the state and federal level. It is top priority for the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) and the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA) to empower pharmacists to address new and emerging issues and become an asset to the pharmacy profession. The Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) is a subsidiary organization of NPhA and thus functions as it relates to NPhA are inclusive of functions associated with SNPhA.

This experience will equip the Executive Fellow with invaluable experience and training in a successful pharmacy association and will allow them to focus on a variety of different issues affecting African Americans and minoritized and/or marginalized communities and populations as well as areas that interest them most and that they want to gain new skills. We are looking for the right candidate who will:

  • Support the federal and Texas-focused government affairs portfolio by monitoring, tracking, and researching legislative and regulatory policies;
  • Stay up to date on pharmacy practice issues and critically examine how new rules and regulations impact African American and other minoritized populations, senior care pharmacy, pharmacy practice in the state of Texas, and the profession as a whole;
  • Liaison with key members and Board of Directors of NPhA and ASCP
  • Support the planning, delivery, and execution of the shared associations’ convenings and events;
  • Engage in strategic partnerships through internal and external committee and coalition involvement Attend congressional hearings and meetings with policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders to advocate for NPhA and ASCP priorities;
  • Write biweekly/monthly newsletters related to professional development affairs, government affairs, and regulatory affairs;
  • Support development and relationship with potential pharmacy school
  • Serve as liaison with other fellows as to student chapters; and
  • Shared leadership responsibility as a preceptor to residents, interns, and students

The Executive Fellowship is a two-year position, starting July 2024 through early July 2026, with flexible start and end dates. This Fellowship is a paid position, is a full-time ASCP funded staff member, and will be located at the ASCP headquarters in Old Town, Alexandria. Virginia. The workload assignment is: ASCP 60%, NPhA 30%, Potential Pharmacy School 10%.
