APhA Virtual Town Hall meeting

October 20, 2023 @ 7:00 PM

It is with great enthusiasm and a profound sense of responsibility that I write to inform you about a significant event that brings immense importance for our pharmacy community. On Friday, October 20, 2023, at 7:00 pm EDT the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) will be hosting a virtual Town Hall meeting through YouTube, and I would like to express my support for the event and extend an invitation for you to participate.

In recent weeks and month, we have witnessed courageous events surrounding pharmacist walkouts, which have raised critical questions and concerns about the current state and future of our profession. As the President of the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA), I have chosen to remain relatively silent on this issue, not out of indifference, but with a strategic purpose in mind. Throughout this time, I have been in communication with the APhA and their leadership, with the intention of fostering collaboration to establish a unified voice for pharmacy and pharmacists.

The significance of unity cannot be overstated, and I believe that by working hand in hand with APhA and other influential organizations, we can amplify our collective voice to address the challenges and opportunities facing our profession. By joining forces and voices, we can better advocate for the well-being of our profession and the patients we serve.

I would also like to extend a warm invitation to you to consider becoming a member of NPhA. Your membership in NPhA will not only connect you with like-minded professionals but also provide you with opportunities for networking, education, and advocacy. To become a member of NPhA, please follow the membership process on our website, or feel free to reach out to our dedicated team for assistance. If you are already a member, I and the NPhA leadership appreciate your commitment to the association and trust in us to represent you in the interest of our mission, purpose, and values.

Additionally, I encourage you to become members and active participants in your respective state pharmacy associations. These state-level organizations have a direct correlation to the pharmacy and pharmacist’s voice regarding legislation that impacts how we practice and experience the pharmacy profession within our states. Active involvement at the state level allows us to address issues that are particularly relevant to our local practice environments.

Finally, I strongly encourage your participation in the upcoming APhA Virtual Town Hall meeting on October 20, 2023. I believe that this event will provide an excellent platform for constructive dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and the exchange of ideas on the most pressing issues facing our profession. Your active involvement will be invaluable in shaping the future of pharmacy. Dr. Michael Hogue, the CEO of APhA, has announced that questions may be submitted in advance through this link (APhA sign-in required).

In closing, I would like to express my deep appreciation for your dedication to the pharmacy profession and your continued support of the National Pharmaceutical Association. Together, we can navigate these challenging times and emerge stronger and more united than ever before.

I look forward to seeing you at the APhA Virtual Town Hall meeting and welcoming you into the NPhA community.

Sincerely,

Frank North, Pharm.D., M.P.A.
